Advancing Electoral Research - ELECDEM closing conference

CALL FOR PAPERS

Elections are a fundamental, if not always effective, mechanism of democratic accountability and representation. The comparative study of electoral democracies has been the motivating principle of ELECDEM - a training network for early stage and experienced researchers. We have taken a comprehensive approach to the study of electoral democracy using cross-nationally comparative databases, content analysis and experiments to examine the impact of globalisation, technological developments in communication and institutional change on representation and accountability.

We are holding our final conference to disseminate the research findings and we are seeking paper proposals from the wider community of electoral researchers. We are open to proposals from researchers working on elections, political behaviour and political communication. Proposals from those researchers early in their careers working on comparative electoral research are welcome. We also encourage proposals that advance new theoretical approaches or that employ innovative methods.

A small registration fee will be charged to assist with catering costs.
A limited number of bursaries for registration, travel and accommodation are available.

*** The deadline for paper submissions is Friday 2 March 2012 ***
